i love this! i love how in your vision they totally reconnect, just like i knew they should, and how it works into the canon perfectly.
it's hard to blame the jack of continuum for bowing out, since he has his own life, his own stuff to tend to, but still.... i miss their friendship in that verse so much and you have so fixed it for me.
