Names are funny things

For a relatively minor point I'm making in a story, I looked up the meaning behind some names. There were some interesting results.

HOUSE:
Gregory - vigilant, watchful
James - supplanter

STARGATE:
Daniel - God is my judge (which we knew)
Jonathan - God has given
Samantha - Sam - Samuel - His name is God
Janet - God is gracious

Just interesting to me because of all the religious connotations. Also, Cameron means bent nose which made me LOL.

Jack - Jonathan - God has given

Just a random thought for the day. By the way, I haven't bothered to look up if any of the names were chosen for specific reasons. If you know something, feel free to share.
